Sorting & Bundling Donations for Warming Hearts NZ
We rely on our volunteers to assist us in checking incoming donations are of good quality (no rips, tears or stains) and then sort this stock into the appropriate picking bins in our warehouse.
Our volunteers then create high quality bundles of warmth from the sorted donations, following a set picking list.
We have a strong reputation for the consistency of our bundles both in the quality of the contents and the range of items included which ensure a baby is warmed for the first 6 months of life.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the volunteering location?
Sorting and bundling is at the PACRITE warehouse. Location is 220 Bush Road, Albany, Auckland. Volunteering sessions will be Monda - Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm. There is ample parking available.
Do I need to be registered to be a volunteer?
Yes, please sign up by selection the Sign Up to Volunteer box on this page.
What days and times are available for volunteer work?
Please refer to our volunteer bookings form on this page. We will release times and days when we have donations needing to be sorted or bundles needing to be made. This will vary, so please check back often.
Can I block out multiple volunteer days and times?
Unfortunately you can only book one time slot at a time. This is due to our sorting and bundling requirements changing week by week.
Can I bring a group to volunteer?
Yes! This is a great way to get your sports teams or corporate teams involved in a group community service activity. Please contact us directly with your enquiry and we will create a special group day and time for you. email@example.com
Is there an age restriction to volunteer?
Whilst we think it is fantastic to involve children in charitable work from a young age, we require all volunteers entering the warehouse to be over the age of 7 due to Health & Safety requirements. Children who volunteer between the ages of 7-14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Do I need to bring anything with me to a volunteering session?
We encourage you to bring in donations on the day! Please see our page on Items Needed for more information. This being said, it is not essential! The donation of your time is greatly appreciated.
Wear comfortable and closed footwear and bring a warm jacket/jumper as the warehouse can be cooler on overcast/winter days.
Will there be training provided?
Yes! We will meet you on site at the scheduled time to commence training. We also have a training video available to watch ahead of time. Once you have received training and read the health and safety policies, you will become an "Approved Volunteer" which means you will not require training at your next volunteer session.
